# About me

## Truth

Some of what I will write about me may be true. Perhaps most of it.
That's what I like with the real internet, you define yourself.

## Or not

I am old. Really old. I was born before electricity existed.
I live in 東京, I have been for about 15 years.

When I play Cyberpunk 2077, one thing I like is that I can understand almost everyone, Japanese, Americans, Latinos, some part of the haitian creole.

But my first encounter with Cyberpunk was in 1987 with a 8 bit PC, the Amstrad CPC.
8 bits of happiness. 27 colors but ugly. And the game was BAT, "Bureau des Affaires Temporelles", a French game about a temporal police in a cyberpunk world. I saw my first sushi in that game, 10 years before I eat one.

That period was technologically extremely eclectic. We'd have the computer, but it was not the top dog. The arcade was. In our hands we had a Nintendo Game & Watch, or a cheap clone, 2 bits computer, 2kb of RAM. My computer was trash, but cheap. People would not have more of the same, they would have a entirely different brand, with specific feature. Atari ST capture the sound market. Raw graphic performances of the Amiga were impressive.

I was awed every year at home much things were changing. We had techno-optimism. Yeah, even in cyberpunk, tech was a tool of control, and a tool of freedom.

Internet changed my life, along with the PC. We'd fullfil this dream, that freedom of being ourselves on internet, connecting to each others. I was in some forums, on IRC. We'd connect and disconnect. I had my small Starcraft community on a site. We'd chat for hours. Especially me because the Megabyte was expensive, I had a 500MB upload limit monthly. I'd count. 1 hour of Starcraft is 3MB. Counterstrike is 10MB, less if you set it like if you have a modem.

Anyway I loved it, we'd talk politics, games, rock. That was glorious, I met so many people. Some I met them in Paris, went to concert. Everything was organical, like if the web was a thousand fold extension of our lives.

I graduated, worked in some big corpos. I am fairly good at it. I travelled, India, China (大連). That was cool.

But it did not give me my internet back. We won't probably meet, and yet if you read me or if I read you, we meet already.

I almost can't feel pain. Or fear.
I can die painfully and it is fine. But not desirable
Kick in the head, car accident, dogs bites are fine for me.
It makes me calm down. Clarity. It makes me think : What is the best next step?

But I feel stress, the vicious one in the daily. I feel stomach pain from it. Internally, I am exhausted by this era. I had to block Reddit, addiction. And I don't even like it, emptiness. Mails, calls, reminders, deadlines, ah give me an Internet fix! Where is my Internet?

I want back. Back to the future that should have been.
Cyberpunk is now.

What happened to Internet being cool? It is like it faded away slowly.
And one day, you'd google smartphone and all you get is an AI, a dictionary, people selling some, and that's it.

What about this guy who hates smartphones? This guy who has a collection of 300? This guy who has smartphones nobody knows?
That's all Humanity is doing now, selling smartphones like an happy family?
Bullshit!

Rage against the machine before it was cool. Internet feels like 25 websites now. It was millions. I believe in the Cyberpunk dysotopia, we'll get back fighting tech with tech, the human against the machine.
